A lot of people have learned over the years that neither Evan nor Jacob Frost should be underestimated.  Thirteen learned it "the hard way" this weekend at the at the 2020 Defense Soap SUPER 32 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  Evan placed 8th out of 144 contestants.  Jacob placed fourth out of 143 contestants.

NOW THE WHOLE COUNTRY KNOW OUR LITTLE SECRET!  Thanks Frosts!

Evan Frost placed 8th out of 144 and sported a record of 7-3. He posted a 5-1 record on Saturday, which included two falls, major decisions of 13-0 and 15-3 and a 17-1 technical fall.  His one loss was 8-2 against Pennsylvania's Tyler Kasak, who placed fifth at the 2020 Pennsylvania AAA state championships.  On Sunday he won his first two matches.  In the Consolation Round of 8 #2 he defeated 2020 Illinois state champion Sergio Lemley 5-3.  He then defeated Minnesota's Koy Buesgens, a 2020 Minnesota third-place state finisher, 5-3, in the consolation Round of 4 #1.  However, that was as far as he would go.  He lost to Tennessee's KeyVeon Roller in the Consolation Round of Four #2.  That led to a rematch against Troy Kasak of New York, a 2020 Pennsylvania state fifth-place finisher who knocked Frost out of the championship bracket on Saturday with an 8-2 decision.  Kasak defeated Frost again for seventh place via a 15-3 decision.

In his 11 matches Evan Frost defeated three state champions (GA, NV, IN) and an Indiana third-place finisher.  He was defeated twice by a Pennsylvania fifth-place winner.

FloWrestling called Jacob Frost the "Bayou Bracket Buster" on Saturday.  (Article)   Frost, who pinned 11th-ranked Nicolar Rivera of Wisconsin in the Round of 16, won his quarterfinals match 5-3 over two-time Arizona State champion Emilio Ysaquirre 5-3 Sunday morning.  But that marked the end of his "bracket busting."  Frost lost in the semifinals to Thor Spratley of New York, 5-1, and in the consolation finals lost to Indiana's Zeke Seltzer 7-7 to place fourth at the event.

On Saturday Frost recorded two falls, an 8-1 decision and a 5-0 decision.  After his fall over Rivera he defeated Emilio Ysaquirre 5-3.  Ysaquirre had previously defeated second-seeded Jordan Titus of New York.

In his eight matches Frost defeated state champions from West Virginia, Wisconsin and Arizona.  His two losses came from a Pennsylvania state champion and an Indiana state champion.

The editor's thoughts on the match with Nicolar Rivera: Against Rivera, the 11th-ranked nationally Wisconsin wrestler started fast with a quick takedown (Frost escape) and another takedown (Frost escape) and appeared to be cruising to a win.  Rivera did not expect Frost to score the next and last takedown of the first period to tie the score at 4-4.  In the second period Rivera escaped and took Frost down again, but then Frost returned the favor knotting the match at 7-7 to start the third period.  Frost escaped to take his first lead 8-7, and then Rivera was hit with a stalling penalty, increasing Frost's lead to 9-7.  It was right about then that Rivera injured his stamina, and had his coaches come over and play with his knee, which must be where the stamina is located, for a little while.  Just massaging the stamina seemed to work great as Rivera showed no evidence of an injured stamina when the two wrestlers resumed the match.  Frost was able to hold on to a leg and Rivera put his head down just enough for Frost to grab it and put Rivera in a nearside cradle for a pin at 4:45.
