Real quick: Who had better freshman years than Teurlings Catholic's Braedon Simoneaux.  Four names come to mind immediately.  They represent five wrestlers, so that may help.  Frost, Frost, Perry, Clementi and Rozas.  Those five were undefeated.  Simoneaux had two losses that I count.  He avenged a one-point loss to East Ascension's Gabriel Bonin, and his other loss was to the senior defending Division I state champion Landry Barker of St. Paul.  And the freshman gave Barker his closest match of the season.

Simoneaux placed third at the Louisiana Classic after the loss to Barker.  To do so he defeated North Desoto's defending state champion Hunter Addison for the second time.  Addison's only Louisiana losses were to Simoneaux, with the last being a 5-3 SV match in the Division II finals.  Aside from Barker, the only Division I state placer he did not beat was Dutchtown's William Mathis.  Addison also defeated Bonin, Landon Carroll of Covington and Brother Martin's Samuel Riles.  This finals match, with a defending champion senior in it, deserved a Sudden Victory round.
