[With regrets, updating this page will have to come after a 1:15 p.m. ultrasound followed by a trip to Home Depot, Pet Smart (I have a hard time writing that store's name as I look at CAT lying next to me at the top of her chateau). and Wal-Mart.  I fully expect the bulk of Team Louisiana to be well on their way toward medaling by the time I start checking.  If not, remember, as I have said numerous times before, even if you go 0-2 in this event you are a better wrestler for the experience.  Time not spent on the mat should not be spent looking on your phones, but looking at the wrestlers on the mats you wish to be on next year.  You put time, effort and, if not yours, then someone else's money into this event.  Do not waste it on Snapchat.]

The quarterfinals were not kind to Louisiana wrestlers on Saturday.  Braedon Simoneaux lost a tough match by one point, 3-2, and fellow TC Rebel Alex Rozas had previously fallen 7-2.  Rozas and Sam Houston junior Tyson Roach battled back to the consolation semifinals but failed to advance in those matches.  Rozas fell 5-3 and Roach 3-0, but both will be competing for fifth-place on Sunday.  For unknown reasons, Jesuit junior Spencer Lanosga withdrew from the tournament prior to his quarterfinals match.

A few wrestlers fared very well on Saturday when their 0-1 Friday records are considered.  St. Paul two-time Division I state champion Landry Barker went 4-1.  Ozias Gray, Robert Morse and Nick DiGeralamo went 3-1, while Chevy Coleman, Caleb Shartle, Bodi Harris, Jackson Peak and Mohammed Gaber went 2-1 on the day.

Nobody had a better day than the Louisiana-bred Allen High School Texas UIL 6A state champion Kelby Bernard.  After falling in his first match on Friday 9-2, Bernard ran off eight matches (and received one forfeit) to make it to the consolation semifinals.  Bernard lost that match but will be competing for fifth-place on Sunday.
