Blue Jay senior Griffin Ellis' only loss was to Baton Rouge's Eli Latilois in the finals of the Zachary Big Horse.  Prior to that he won the South Walton Border Wars.  Ellis' only challenge on his way to the finals was from Division III Dunham's James Baldwin in an 8-5 semifinals match.

Parkway's second-seeded Kristofer Mesloh had two losses to Louisiana wrestlers, but won titles at the Riot on the Red, the Lone Survivor and the Brusly Division II.  Blayden Laidlaw of Sulphur, seeded third, had three losses, but all were to out-of-state competition.  Laidlaw's prowess showed in his 4:00 semifinals fall over Mesloh.

Laidlaw also showed a lot as he was ahead of Ellis 4-3 heading into the third period of the finals.  Ellis won the final two minutes 5-2, though, to exit the mat with an 8-6 championship, the third for the Blue Jays.
