Spartan sophomore Aiden Krass was 14-3 upon entering this tournament.
Once might say his wins were not over the elite of the weight class, but he had
a 12-9 win over a solid Jacob Britt of Destrehan. His other losses
came from a Division III state champion and a Division I runner-up. But,
save one in Bossier City, he faced some good public-school elite in this event.
One is never safe with Acadiana's Cayden Richard, so it could be said
he just slipped by the #3 Ram sophomore 14-5 MD in the semifinals. St. Amant's
Ephraim Craddock had a tough road eased by Fontainebleau's Asher Wilson when
Wilson upset the second-seeded Britt 13-4 MD. Craddock, seeded sixth, had
a problem of his own in third-seeded Pollex Coleman of Sam Houston, but prevails
8-3 prior to winning his semifinal match against Wilson 6-2. Krass was a
different story for the Gator senior. As often as he got them, and it was
often in the first period, Craddock could not covert holding a high leg of
Krass' into a takedown. Krass rode Craddock the entire second period, and
the first points were not scored until the third, when Krass managed an escape.
Craddock was awarded a penalty point, and he tied the match 2-2 with an escape
with 37 seconds remaining, but it was Krass getting the winning takedown with
six second remaining.
Wilson defeated #5 Chase Hutchinson of Dutchtown in 1:37 to make the
consolation finals, where he defeated Coleman 10-6. Coleman reached that
match with a fall in 2:33 over Richardson. Richardson won fifth via a
forfeit by #5 Champ Hutchinson of Dutchtown, whom Richardson defeated in the
quarterfinals via a fall in 5:23.
