Kael Reaux made the first of two stellar Southside debuts to the 2022-23
season, needing only 4:55 to record three falls and with the Spartan
Invitational. The other side of the bracket took a bit longer, as
Fontainebleau's Samuel Favaza needed all he could muster to eke out a 4-3 win
over the 'Sader Scramble and Griffin Open champion Vincent Vidacovich of Holy
Cross. Favaza has only lost to one other opponent this season, that being
De la Salle's 2022 Division III state champion Dylan Duvernay, who has defeated
Favaza twice. Aside from the three losses to the two mentioned wrestlers,
Favaza has 11 wins to his credit, including falls over Brother Martin's Blake
McDonald and St. Thomas More's Collin Romero. The end of this event was
his third finals appearance in as many tournaments.
