| How to be “superfluous” in 500 words or
		less |
| June 20th, 2021 Written by: Staff writer |
It seems like it has been a long time since I published the
2021 state championships article.   (That
it only took me 40 days to complete is a personal best, yet one must recall only
my daughter Camille and I took photographs.)  Yet
it has only been 41 days since May 9th.
It has been a busy 41 days.
Weeks ago, I exposed my apartments’ drainage system as the fraud that it
was.   I learned just yesterday,
after Tropical Storm Claudette stopped by for a brief visit, that it now
worked after three weeks of modifications.
I finished the backyard fence and new azalea beds I started in 2020 at
the house.  I changed bedrooms after
Camille left and installed 11 shelves in that room, seven of which are near the
ceiling to hold LED lights that reflect off of the ceiling (stupid
maculopathy!).
During that time, I have also been working on three
articles.  One is a preview of the
2021-22 season.
I only remember being successful twice when I intended to
do nothing re wrestling at all.  The
first was when I had some surgery at 7:30 a.m.
The second was the following day.
I think there were a couple of other days, as I recall proudly mentioning
to my mother that “I did not do anything on wrestling today!”
(Being the foremost expert on me, it does not take much to make her proud
of her son.)
So why is it taking so long, you might ask.
Look how long it took me to get here.
Aye, there’s the rub!
I rewrote my preview five times before I learned the Holy
Cross Frost twins were moving to Iowa.
Currently it consists of six pages in Word.
To make it shorter I considered just using
a smaller
font size.
That would
be cheating,
though.  The
“grading” article is also six pages long right now.
The LHSAA article…well…it stands at nine pages to date, but I already
have a lot of “cuts” to make.
They will get done.
The preview I will cut to four pages, one for each division
and one other for random tripe.
The “grading” piece should be cut to four pages also.
It has three aspects: 1) the wrestlers, coaches and officials, 2) the
River Center, and 3) the LHSAA’s running of the event.
(Cutting the third section to two pages may not be possible.)
The “Louisiana Wrestling News vs. LHSAA” piece
currently is nine pages but has a lot of tables.
Bullet points will shorten that.
I also need to make sure it is not libelous.
That should not be hard – the LHSAA made it pretty easy.
And it is 500 words…now.
