Champion: Bailee Creasey of C.E. Byrd

Bailee Creasey of C.E. Byrd did what 15 other wrestlers, including a soon-to-be Division I state champion, could not do: defeat South Beauregard's Chase Spooner.  Spooner, who a week earlier defeated Covington's Christopher Allen in the Louisiana Classic finals, was down 5-1 after the first period, tied the match at 6-6 in the third period but succumbed to a reversal by Creasey with 34 seconds remaining.  Spooner only scored a penalty point in the last half-minute in the 8-7 semifinals match.  Second-seeded Alex Newman of St. Amant made the finals after three straight pins, but the day belonged to Creasey, who defeated the Gator senior 5-1.
