Parkway leads a top Louisiana contingent in Mobile's Gulf Coast Classic

Seven Louisiana teams, including five known powerhouses, are competing this weekend at the Gulf Coast Clash in the Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama.

The 30 participating schools, originating in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and Louisiana, are allowed as many entrants as can be fit but scorers are designated.  After Friday's pool rounds two-time defending Division II state champion and newly placed Division I contender Parkway leads the Louisiana teams with 13 competing in Saturday's championship brackets.  Brother Martin has 12 while Catholic and Jesuit have 11 apiece.  They are followed by Holy Cross with eight, Rummel with three and Covington with two.

Parkway is in third place behind Thompson, Alabama and White Knoll of South Carolina.  The next Louisiana school is Catholic, currently in eighth place, folowed by two-time defending Division I state champions Brother Martin.
