Louisiana Classic - 182 pounds
Date, 2019 | Written by: Editor

Holy Cross senior Caden Mumme was undefeated at 182-pounds, and that did not change after the Louisiana Classic finals.  Basile's Isaac Cortez was seeded second, but the bottom quarter of the bracket simply self-destructed.  Cortez lost to unseeded Joshua Sabadie of St. Paul's who then lost to Live Oak's unseeded Austin Cook.  Third-seeded Michael Clapp of Brother Martin and sixth-seeeded Tanner Melendez advanced as expected, but Clapp needed a Sudden Victory period to defeat Melendez 9-7.  Clapp then pinned the unseeded Cook to advance to the finals against Mumme.  But his streaked stopped there, as Mumme defeated Clapp 9-2 for the championship.
