| Live Oak raises over $1,000 at the 2017 "Take-Down Blindness" tournament |

The Live Oak "Take-Down Blindness" tournament
annually generates funds and donations to the Greater Baton Rouge
Regional Eye Bank. The takedown-only tournament, held on Saturday,
October 28th, attracted over 100 people who became donors, and raised
over $1,000 for the cause. Additionally, 95 wrestlers competed
from seven Greater Baton Rouge area schools: Live Oak, Fontainebleau,
Dutchtown, Central, Basile, St. Amant and St. Michael the Archangel. Live Oak hosts this tournament as their beginning of the wrestling season jamboree. The competition consisted of takedowns only and included a "win by 10-points" rule when applicable. |
St. Amant had the most champions with four: Tyree Morris, Jacob Cardwell, Cody Comeaux and Hunter Hawkins. The Gators also had five runners-up. Host Live Oak had three champion in Anthony Dodson, Austin Cook and Anthony Ingram and a runner-up in Dylan Merrill. Basile and Fontainebleau had two champions each (Alex Menier and Gavin Christ for Basile and Josh Fitzpatrick and Logan Alhorn for Fontainebleau), while Central and St. Michael each had champions in Brayden Wilson and Dane Harter.
