The first wrestling tournaments of the year start off on Saturday, November 4th.  A partial list of competitors in the events is available on TrackWrestling, and below are the names of some who could fare very well this weekend.

2017 St. Michael the Archangel Warrior Open

As far as Division I teams go, the Airline Vikings are bringing Peyton Bass and Thomas Barringer (both placed 6th in Division I 2017) among their 10 entrants.  It appears Jesuit is bringing a second-string team, aside from Thomas Arceneaux (3rd in Division I 2017) and Colby Queyrouze (Queyrouze, a junior, started for the Blue Jays as a freshman).  The event should also feature Catholic's Luke Romano (5th in Division I in 2017) and Dutchtown's Zion Marable (2-2) in Division I in 2017.  Zachary has 12 wrestlers entered in head coach J.P. Pierre's debut.

Division II's Live Oak will feature Clayton Hill, Camdyn Ingram, Anthony Dodson and state champion Anthony Ingram.  Sam Houston is bringing 5th-place Division II placer Christian Satchell and Aaron John.  Division II runner-up Dane Harter will, of course, compete for the host team of St. Michael.  One would expect the Rummel starters who are not playing football will be entered.

John Curtis will have Division III third-place winners Colten Kendrick and Joha Anderson.  Ouachita Christian will have Sam Pitts, Mikey Gordey, Matthew Matherne, Cole Ringle and Matthew Webre in their lineup.

As of 12:30 a.m. on Friday morning Basile, Broadmoor, Brother Martin, Rayne, St. Louis and Thomas Jefferson did not have any wrestlers entered in the TrackWrestling page for the event.

2017 Rummel 8

Rummel (runner-up in 2017 Division II) will host Belle Chasse, Brother Martin (3rd place in 2017 Division I), Brusly (Runner-up in 2017 Division III), Catholic, De la Salle (champions in 2017 Division III), Holy Cross (Champions in 2017 Division I), Saint Paul's, and Shaw, which is actually nine teams.

The wrestlers each team will bring is as yet unavailable to the public.  They will be released at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, and thus will not be listed in this article.  It is possible that St. Paul's will enter some of their expected starters, though, as 11 St. Paul's wrestlers are entered in the Lakeshore/Pearl River Open, and they appear to be a junior varsity squad as the group consists of seven sophomores and four freshmen.  According to the Holy Cross schedule, the Tigers are bringing a varsity squad.

Lakeshore/Pearl River Open

Six teams will compete in the Lakeshore/Pearl River Open: Bonnabel, Chalmette, Haynes, Lakeshore, Pearl River and St. Paul's.

Bayou Elite Tiger Open

Bantam through Junior High wrestlers are participating in the Bayou Elite Tiger Invitational at Holy Cross.  Wrestling is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m.  Admittance at the event is $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and children under five-years-old are free.

Participating schools and/or clubs were not available on TrackWrestling as of 12:30 a.m. Friday morning.

Time permitting, and TrackWrestling information cooperating, more information may be added later on Friday.
