UPDATE: Jesuit's Dom Carmello was incorrectly listed as participating in the 220 pounds weight class.  Carmello will compete at 285 pounds.

The 2nd Annual South Walton Border Wars wrestling tournament begins at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon at South Walton High School in Destin, Florida.

The format for Friday's action is as follows:  each weight class will consist of four pools of containing three to five wrestlers who will compete against everyone else in their pool.  The two wrestlers who fare the best in each pool will qualify for an eight-man double-elimination championship bracket tournament which will start at approximately 11.a.m on Saturday.

Wrestlers who do not qualify for the championship bracket on Friday will be sorted into new pools in which they will compete against wrestlers with whom they did meet on Friday.  These matches will begin at approximately 9 a.m. on the six mats in the main gym until the championship tournament begins at 11 a.m.  At that time and until 5 p.m. the Saturday pool wrestlers will compete on mats in the cafeteria.

The Friday pools match-ups (in PDF format) may be found by clicking here.

Louisiana pre-tournament notes: Jesuit's defending Division I state champion Ben D'Antonio will not be participating and will be replaced by sophomore Jordan Giewat; sophomore William Rosevally will compete for the Blue Jays at 145 pounds instead of Jacob Rovira; senior Dominic Carmello, who is undefeated and has two tournament titles to his credit at 285 pounds, will compete at 220 pounds.

Updates on Friday's action may be published periodically (as internet access allows) during the day or after Friday's action ceases Friday evening.
